Today I have a bonus project. Have you ever had a vision of something you want to create, but it keeps getting pushed down on your list of priorities? That’s what has happened to me with this magnetic board.
Several of the 12 x 12 designer series paper packages include a scene or backdrop. They are perfect for scrapbook pages and interactive play.
I intended to create a board for River when the Happier Than Happy bundle was introduced in the summer of 2022. When I started playing with the Day at the Farm designer series paper I couldn’t resist any longer. And now that I’ve made one I see many more possibilities! I may make several to be inter changeable in the frame. Next up is the Happier than Happy bundle and coordinating designer series paper.
An Interactive Board for River
River is Hazel’s 2 1/2 year old brother. I think he’s the perfect age for a board with his name on it and animals he can move around on the farm. I thought about using magnets on the letters of his name, but the Alphabet A La Mode dies create letters that are thin and wouldn’t stand up to toddler play even if I reinforced them with Foam Adhesive Sheets. Personalizing this for River was important to me so I adhered cardstock to foam adhesive sheets and die cut the letters of his name before adhering them to the designer series paper. I love the dimension the foam adds.
I started out just die cutting some of the animals from the designer series paper. The foam adhesive sheets work well with dies. I haven’t tested punches, but they are on my list. If punches work I’ll add letters with the Alphabest bundle. River and Hazel can play together and spell out the animal names or other images from the scene.
A few friends suggested laminating either the DSP or animals. I ruled out laminating the animals because of the bulk to be die cut. I don’t have a laminating tool and wanted to create while the idea was fresh on my mind, so I didn’t laminate the DSP. You certainly could if you wanted something that would last longer.
Foam adhesive sheets have adhesive on both sides. I adhered the DSP on one side and card stock on the other. Then I die cut them and adhered the magnets. The magnets came from Amazon, of course.
