I love cards that aren’t complicated but offer a bit of a wow, maybe even a secret inside. I like to use those designs in my card classes and personal crafting. At least once a quarter I host a game night on zoom. We love visiting with each other, playing games, winning prizes, and stamping. I look for pretty card designs that don’t require a lot of supplies and don’t involve a lot of steps. In my search I ran across a card design by Libby Stamps that was perfect with a couple of modifications.

Twins, but Not Identical

I decided to show you my CASE of Libby’s design and one that was modified a little more to accommodate our game night requirements. In today’s YouTube live I demonstrated one of the card designs for the Stamp, zoom, and BINGO class on December 3. I also shared a stepped up version that looks the same on the outside but has a secret inside. I CASEd Libby Stamps and kept most of my stepped up card the same. I’ve seen a few others share similar pocket cards, but hers caught my eye with the real red of the designer series paper and the buffalo check ribbon.

The Card Details

For one of my cards I stamped one in Real Red ink and in Memento Black for the other. I think I like the Memento Black version better. Which one do you prefer?

The basic card has a black mat on all 4 sides. The Basic Black cardstock is cut 4 x 5 1/4. The Peaceful Prints designer series paper is cut 3 7/8 x 5 1/8. I should have cut the DSP 5 1/8 x 11 5/8 with score lines on the long side at 3 7/8 and 7 3/4. to allow a black mat on all 4 sides. In the video I demonstrate how to place the DSP in the trimmer to cut the last panel to create the secret pocket.

I Found a Hidden Gem

I added a tree stamp from the Peaceful Deer stampset. I’m sad to say that was the first time I’ve stamped with it. If you’ve missed it, please go back and take a second look. There are so many images for a landscape and many deer details. There’s even a coordinating punch offered in a bundle. The deer builder punch should be available to order next week. Stampin’ Up! has been impacted by the global shipping delays and several punches have been unavailable at various times.

If you’ve got some designer series paper hanging around looking for a card to call home, this design with its secret pocket is an excellent design to follow. Just be careful with patterns that have a direction. You don’t want trees growing sideways or upside down.

Want to Make This Card with Friends?

I hope you enjoy today’s video and get lots of ideas for your crafting. It’s not too late to register for our game night; you can join us on zoom, make 4 fun cards, and play 6 games of BINGO. Your $30 fee includes the prepped cards and a goody bag with $12-$15 in products. Add $5 for shipping if you aren’t local and $10 if you would like to play 2 extra boards. Visit my classes page to register for BINGO or other events. It isn’t necessary to register for YouTube or Facebook lives, but it does look as if you do. That’s a quirk with the website that I don’t have figured out yet.

Mistletoe Market

I shared a couple of photos from last weekend’s Mistletoe Market. My friend, Rosemary, helps me at this event. She’s the magic behind creating an appealing display. She helps me talk to visitors and makes the time lots of fun. We met so many new friends. Congratulations to Lanesia Daigs for winning my doorprize.

A Few Reminders

On Thanksgiving afternoon I’ll have a virtual card class that you can join while you relax after dinner. It will broadcast on Facebook at 4:00 pm CST, 5:00 pm EST, 3:00 MST. or 2:00 PST.
