You might remember that my niece, Savannah, had a birthday yesterday. Naturally I didn’t have a special card ready for her. So I decided I would make her one.

I found a card by Patty Bennett for inspiration and started tweaking. The first thing to do was update the colors. Patty’s card was made in shades of purple. Savannah isn’t team purple. Interestingly, I found out that neither are several of my friends. That hurt a little. I’m not sure how anyone could fail to love purple, especially those of us old enough to remember Donny Osmond!

Template 23003

This design probably has a name, but since it came about while I was just playing, I don’t know what it is. It’s gate fold and pocket card. It is not complicated. There’s no die cutting or punching, just layers of patterns and color.

In yesterday’s video as I colored I reminded you that the Stampin’ Blends blend colors better and better as you continue to layer the ink. My owl isn’t as cleanly blended as I would have liked. My challenge was that the color will darken as layered are added and I wanted the owl to be somewhat light. (Head slap) After I took my photos I realized that I could have used the Natural tones blends and obtained a light color that was blended softly.

This fun fold is template 23003. Access the FREE PDF tutorial here.
