Woohoo! Today is blog hop Tuesday with the amazing Tech 4 Stampers Academy group. I get to combine lots of my favorite things today – Halloween, traditional Halloween colors, and Foam Adhesive Sheets! The August blog hop theme is Cards for Kids.

I love Halloween from decorations and costumes to crafts and trick-or-treating and candy. I love seeing all the decorations in my neighborhood and love visiting with neighbors on Halloween night. I am lacking Halloween classes in my schedule. There are some fabulous fall and Halloween stampsets available, and I believe I have some friends who would like to gather a few friends together to make Halloween treat packages or cards. If that friend is you, reach out now and grab a date. hello@michelesalchow.com. If we wait for Tennessee to feel like fall, it will be Christmas!

Here’s the front of today’s card. What do you think?

I am a creature of habit. I buy multiple colors of the same shirt if I like the way it fits. When we eat out and I find a menu selection that I really like, I order every time I’m at that restaurant. It’s really not a surprise that I today’s card follows a new favorite card layout.

My friend, Cindy Westerink, made the cutest card ever in a Facebook live a few weeks ago. I loved EVERY SINGLE THING about that card. So I copied it, exactly and used it as a shoebox swap card with my team. They needed to experience the awesomeness.

It’s the perfect layout for a kid card because it offers surprise after surprise. I absolutely love, “But wait, there’s more”. I hope you do too.

Here’s the front. But wait, there’s more.

There are a lot of moving parts to this card. Is it over the top? Too much?

Some things worth noting – I used the Foam Adhesive Sheets to create dimension for the bats and to add sturdiness for the top layer. I used Adhesive sheets for the detailed dies and small bats. That way they won’t get bent or torn if the card is opened and closed several times. Foam Adhesive Sheets and Adhesive Sheets are great products to use with die cuts when you are crafting for kids, like this project, or when you are crafting with kids. The die cuts become stickers! You can avoid glue mess and sticky fingers.

The foam adhesive sheets are white. As I showed in the video I colored them with a Black Stampin’ Blend. I thought I was too clever for words, but it isn’t a new idea. I get credit only for remembering to do it. I have a close up of that dimension in the last photo below. You can use a black Stampin’ Write marker to color, but it will take some time to dry. If you are impatient, use the blend; alcohol based ink dries faster than water based ink. I may have made a sample card and used a Stampin’ Write marker. I might try to deny it, but my black inky fingers will give me away.

I really had way too much fun with the bats. Who knew they could be fun? I think I might stamp a witch from Best Witches with Hazel and let her color it and decorate a card or scrapbook page with some fat little bats. She would have fun with the Hippest Hippos and all those accessories. Cards for Kids or Cards with Kids?

Using the stamparatus with these solid image stamps was key to getting a dark, strong stamped image. I stamped multiple times. I also used the hinge technique for stamping the trio of trick-or-treaters multiple times.

I had to decorate the inside

I know you will enjoy all the projects in the hop. Have fun hopping along. I’d love you to leave a comment and share and a tip for crafting with kids.
