I must apologize. I’ve had the 10 brand new Natural Tones Stampin’ Blends for a month, and I haven’t shared them with you. There are so many options – skin tones, hair, animals, wood, and nauture! Plus, there’s the new All Together bundle that is only available for a limited time. I’ll share more of the All Together bundle in Wednesday’s FB live and blog, and it is featured in next week’s class. (There are photos and ordering links below.) When I started looking for stamps to today’s live I had a dozen or so stampsets to choose from within minutes. And just as you would expect, I’m ready to create more cards.
I might as well keep on confessing. I’ve been looking for a reason to share the you make me happy card. Both of today’s cards are friendship cards and are similar but different. That reminds me of a movie, “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”. Do you remember that movie? Recognize the scene I’m thinking of? It might have been luck, but both cards turned out just as I imagined them and complement each other nicely. I hope I met my objective for the YouTube live today by giving you ideas to create different skin tones and hair colors with the new Natural Tones Stampin’ Blends Collection.
The YouTube Live
You Make Me Happy
The You Make Me Happy card was created as a thank you for my customers who participated in the Valentine Stamp Camp. It’s a Magenta Madness card base cut 4.25 x 11, scored at 5.5. I placed all 4 of the small stamps on a D block and stamped randomly on the card front in Magenta Madness Ink. The Basic White layer is 3.5 x 3. I measured up from the bottom 1″ and in from each side 0.5″ to determine where to place the bottom of the rainbow die. I marked it lightly with a pencil and ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine. I stamped the greeting next and then adhered a piece of the DSP to the back of the white layer. I attached the white layer with dimensionals and decided not to further embellish. I liked the clean look and knew this would mail easily.
We Make a Great Team
I demonstrated this card from start to finish in today’s YouTube live. The card base is 0.5 sheet of Polished Pink cardstock that is cut 5.5 x 8.5 and scored at 4.25. I chose this fold to allow me to wrap a ribbon around in case I decided I wanted to do that. I’m glad I did; I really like the ribbon. Do you? I started with a 4 x 4.5 piece of Basic White and trimmed it down to approximately 3.4 x 4 after I finished stamping.
I used the stamparatus when I stamped the large image which allowed me to stamp the image multiple times and get solid coverage of the pants. I colored the shirts with Polished Pink and Fresh Freesia combo Stampin’ Blends. For the skin tones and hair colors I mixed a few of the new Natural Tones Stampin’ Blends. I didn’t follow any specific formula, just tried different ones. I intentionally did not blend the hair colors together. Hair color usually has several distinct colors or shades. You can add texture for waves and curls by layering color on after each layer dries. (For blending, layer color quicky.) I will have more opportunities for coloring and blending next week in the Virtual Card Class.
I shared a couple of sneak peeks today. I shared some samples that will appear in tomorrow’s blog hop and I shared the samples from the February Card Club featuring the Flowering Fields Suite. Visit my classes page or my calendar page for more information and to register for upcoming classes. You need to subscribe for the monthly card club by February 10 in order to receive this month’s class. Or register by the 10th for the February class without subscribing.
